  2. A Proposal Creation of a Network of Postdoctoral Research Residency Opportunities for Early Pre-tenured Faculty in Areas of Rehabilitation Research NAPRAH

  3. Search for Funding Partner • Question: Might we enhance fundability if we focus in a research area that is • Health Related? (e.g., NIDDK or NINDS) • Population Based? (e.g., NIA or NICHD) • Activity Based? (e.g., NCMR or NIDRR) • Question: If so, should we use this to determine the potential funding agency? • Question: Might there be a more general “research preparation” funding source? (e.g., RWJ) NAPRAH

  4. Determination of potential research hosts • Examination of current projects and PIs within targeted area(s) • NIDRR current research projects • NSF current research projects • NCMR current research projects • other NAPRAH

  5. Determination of potential pre-tenured faculty research residency candidates • Direct mail to deans and chairs of academic units housing academic departments of targeted area(s) • Information articles in professional newsletters read by faculty in above targeted areas • other NAPRAH

  6. Expectations of Faculty Research Residents (FRRs) • Articulation of career development goals to justify a placement • Significant research residency at host site • Sustained • 3 or 6 months • Intermittent • e.g., 1 month at host, followed by I month at home, followed by one month at host • Publication/dissemination of results of research activity during residency during some specified period. • Application for research funding support (or inclusion as co-PI on funding application) within some specified period. NAPRAH

  9. Reporting/Overview Responsibilities • Negotiation of expectations approved by host, research (and researcher’s employer), and funding agency • Assessment of progress at midpoint of experience • Follow-up assessment • Dissemination of outcomes NAPRAH
