CarCouIT in Slovakia • The final output of the CarCouIT in Slovakia is an unique portal dedicated to all career counselors in Slovakia, and in the future in Europe (after an English version will be ready to launch). • During the projectthe Academy of Communication intensively cooperated with Research Institute for Child Psychology and Pathopsychology (VUDPaP), the main contact institution for Slovak career counselors. • This portal was presented in detail on training to 3 appointed counselors, and consequently it was presented to about 100 career counselors from all over the country. • The project has a good timing because the legislation in Slovakia is paying more attention to career counseling, thinking about additional financial support!

Main purpose of the portal • Career counselors in Slovakia are mostly full-time teachers, with so limited time for researching the new methods or information in the area of career counseling. • There was a need for information source that can be accessible from any town in the country, can be easily updated, is interactive and enables counselors exchange experiences, ideas, worries, advices, ask the professional experts in the field etc. • With the fast changing market and opening opportunities on labor market within Slovakia and in Europe as such, students should be prepared not just professionally. Counselors should focus also on development of students’ activity, flexibility, mobility, by training in social communication, by intensive informing about world of labor.

A content of the portal • We can divide the portal into two main parts: 1, informative 2, communicative • Informative has four categories so far: • Career education and counseling (theoretical scope, school databases, students lists, ideas for development…) • Multidisciplinary of career counseling • Methods, forms, and tools of counselors work • Counseling for students with special needs • Legislation of career counseling • Research in the area of career counseling • Communicative offers: - discussions, blogs, personal account, e-mail, chat, announcements, news, contacts, downloaded materials on personal space etc.
