Define It! Wind is a natural movement of air of any velocity It can be strong wind or weak wind
Origins! • Wind is caused by air flowing from high pressure to low pressure
Advantages! • Wind energy is friendly to the surrounding environment • Wind turbines take up less space than the average power station • Wind is the fastest growing renewable energy in the world • Another advantage of wind energy is that when combined with solar electricity, this energy is great for countries
Disadvantages! • Wind is sometimes to weak to support wind turbines • Wind turbines produce a lot less electricity than the average fossil fuel power station • Wind turbine construction is very expensive
What Wind Can Do! • Wind can create a tornado when hot and cold wind mix, but it has to be strong winds • It can also shape landforms like mountains • It can make new plants by blowing the seeds to new places • It can also help push birds, airplanes, and kites in a direction
Where Wind Is! • Wind can be found anywhere in the world • There is more wind were there are lots of trees • Not as much wind in the cities
What Wind Is Used For! • We use wind for powering things • Carry ships across the ocean • Spin turbines which create electricity • Wind turbines aren’t good everywhere • Pumping water or processing grain
What Wind Will Do In The Future! • In the future wind will power more electricity • Much of it’s future development will be offshore • Growth of 10-40% per year • In Europe wind has 13% • In 2015 there will be more than 300 turbines Your Text Here Europe!
Fun Facts! • During the day wind the blows West • During the night the wind blows East • Average wind speed is 14 miles per hour • Wind has 15% of renewable energy • Renewable energy has 9% • Wind is the fastest growing energy source in the world
