Results PACS EMC-Test • EMC test of Herschel EQM IMT on PACS AVM warm electronics together with FPU CQM • Electric field susceptibility tests • passed for both, photometer and spectrometer mode • Magnetic field susceptibility tests • passed for spectroscopy mode • failed for photometry mode (NCR HP-113000-ASED-NC-1772) EMC
H-Field Susceptibility in Photometer Mode • PACS Photometer irradiated by H-field • 120dBpT for 30Hz to 20kHz • 110dBpT for 20kHz to 50kHz • IID-A requirement is 140dBpT! • deviations of photometer signals could be observed • sensitive areas for PACS are • section of cryostat wall where photometer is behind • cryo-harness sections • PACS harness near warm electronics EMC
H-Field Susceptibility in Photometer Mode • susceptible at all 3 positions for frequencies above 1kHz • susceptibility thresholds maximum 30dB below required test levels (PACS-ME-TR-069) • the magnetic field causes an offset in the bolometer signal • susceptibility confirmed on unit level (QM-2) EMC
H-Field Susceptibility in Photometer Mode • solar generator is main source of H-field at spacecraft level • some wires and connectors are very close to one solar panel • switching section of solar supply are in front of cryo-harness • switching frequency at 1 to 4kHz plus peaks up to several 100kHz • model calculations showed a high H-field (more than one magnitude higher as tolerable) near PACS main SVM connector bracket EMC
H-Field Susceptibility in Photometer Mode • possible reductions of H-field impact at spacecraft level • mu-metal shielding • no longer pursued solution • swapping active sections of solar array • preferred solution • no switching will occur near PACS harness • implementation currently in progress at Alcatel Space EMC
