DEFINITION LYNCHING is when someone is killed without being given a trial. The murder is carried out by a mob that seeks to inflict harm upon an individual for a hateful reason. A lynching is usually done by hanging, but can happen in other ways as well.
Lynching Many African Americans were lynched in the South after Reconstruction because whites were furious that slavery was over and African Americans were slowly being accepted as citizens of the country.
Lynching Lynching occurred so much that southern law makers had to propose a bill to STOP them from being carried out.
LYNCHING THE NAACP and supporters from the North often spread the news about lynching's that took place in the south.
LYNCHING A rope tied in a “noose” was commonly used when lynching African Americans. The murdered individual would slowly drown in their own blood through strangulation.
LYNCHING DISCLAIMER The next few slides are somewhat disturbing and painful to those who sympathize with what African Americans had to endure.
