  4. GENERAL ARCHITECTURE

  5. General architecture – On the transmitter site Use Digiplexer 2/4 as a backup processor (i.e. 2 band version) or main one (i.e. 4 band). Guarantee your audio with the Input/Output management and the embedded Audio Backup. Create high quality signals: Audio, RDS, MPX. Keep total control of the site with the I/O Remote Control functions and ScriptEasy Software.

  6. General architecture – In the Studio Use the Digiplexer 2/4 as a main Audio Processor at a Studio. Process the sound for any format (FM, Web stream, HD radio…) Encode your RDS data locally. Configure a Monitor Audio Output for local listening.

Audio Processing – General features • Digiplexer 2/4: the first processor that operates at : • 192 kHz sample rate for main processing stages • 1.5 MHz sample rate for the final limiter • Processing delay is non-audible (less than 5ms). • A high pass filter can be set from 1 to 200Hz in order to control sub bass.

  17. Audio Processing – Automatic Gain Control • Predictive AGC (Automatic Gain Control): • Corrects large audio level variations (up to 30dB) • Without any pumping effect • With a Gatefunction The AGC will not increase the level in case of silence (configurable threshold)

Stereo Encoding • Control your modulation precisely (+/-75kHz): • 1.5Mhz FM Clipper (High sampling rate never reached before!) • Use the Virtual Composite Clipper to keep a high quality MPX signal. • Control your MPX Power (ITU-R412): • MPX Power Limiter that operates on the audio processing stages for better results. • Predictive Power calculation (for instantaneous MPX power display and limitation) • MPX Power Limiter and Virtual Composite Clipper are also active on any audio output configured in FM mode.

Audio Backup • The Digiplexer 2/4 is an Audio Backup device that can play an audio file in case of silence on other inputs. • Play audio files previously uploaded (remotely via FTP). • Use the Backup as a 3rd audio input. • Stream the audio from a remote source • Use standard audio formats. • MP3 • Wave • Auto-switch between 3 audio inputs (analog, digital and backup audio) • Configure delay and threshold for silence detection. • Choose the order of priority between the 3 inputs • Configure crossfades for audio input switchovers. • Fade in / fade out, for smoother audio transitions

  45. Audio Backup – Security Reliability and Security: With the Digiplexer, you will always stay on the air! In case of Audio Signal Loss: • Auto-Switch (analog, digital and internal backup audio inputs): • Backup modeswitchesto a secondary input if silence is detected on the primary (configurable threshold and delay) • Priority mode switches to a main input when audio is detected. (configurable threshold and delay – useful for local programs) • Embedded Audio Backup • Play audio files previously uploaded (remotely via FTP). • Stream the audio from a remote server via TCP/IP • Use the Backup as a 3rd audio input.

  46. Audio Backup – Security Reliability and security: With the Digiplexer, you will always stay on the air! In case of Power Loss: • Hardware Audio Bypass (AES-AES and analog-analog) • 2 second Reboot! (from power on to on air with active audio processing) In case of system crash: • You stay On the Air: • An Internal controller will automatically reboot the system, but the audio card continues to run! • The Sound4 DSP audio card is independent of the system: • Plug in the Digiplexer:you are On the Air in only 2 seconds!

I/O Remote Control • The Digiplexer 2/4 has 2 slots for I/O cards: • 1 Digital (status) Input Card (16 inputs) • 1 Relay Output Card (8 SPDT relay outputs) • 4 USB ports and 1 RS232 port • I/O enables control and monitoring • Control RDS Parameters using the 16 digital inputs: • TA, TP, DSN, PTY, etc. • Monitor other equipment at the site • TX status, door alarms….. • Control other equipment at the site manually • Reset satellite receiver, turn on cooling fan…. • Send alarms or activate relays on Digiplexer events: (i.e. reboot a faulty codec if input audio is lost….)
