School of Health Related Professions Baccalaureate programs: clinical laboratory sciences, cytotechnology, dental hygiene, health sciences, health informatics and information management, radiologic sciences; post-baccalaureate program in nuclear medicine. Master of Health Informatics and Information Management (MHIIM) Approved by Mississippi Board of Institutions of Higher Learning in November, 2011 (emerging program) 36 semester credit hours; program officially begins Fall 2012 Students transitioning from the Health Informatics track of the MHS to the MHIIM Two tracks in MHIIM: Health Informatics and Health Information Management
Curriculum: CAHIIM’s Three Facetsof Health Informatics • Information systems are concerned with such issues as information systems analysis, design, implementation, and management. • Informatics is concerned with such issues as the structure, function and transfer of information, socio-technical aspects of health computing, and human-computer interaction. • Information technology is concerned with such issues as computer networks, database and systems administration, security, and programming.
