  1. Benefits of choosing Parylene Coatings

  2. Parylene is a form of polymer coating that has gained attention of numerous industries and manufacturing processes.  What are Parylene Coatings? The Parylene Coatings are designed using a series of polymers called paraxylene. To obtain the desired results, pyrolysis of a dimer is done in vacuum.  The vapor is then deposited on the desired surface at room temperature. Choosing to opt for vapor phase deposition of these conformal coatings adds to the overall beauty and sturdiness of the product. When compared to liquid coatings, these coatings can deposit adequately across the entire surface. This makes it an ideal coating on plastic, metals, ceramics, etc.

  3. Since the entire process is pinhole free, the Parylene Coatings deliver the best results and quality. These are also resilient against chemicals, moisture and solvents which makes it an ideal choice for industrial applications. • Growing popularity for Parylene Coatings   • The Parylene Coatings find application across numerous industries and manufacturing units. The common uses include -  • Circuit boards • Electric motors • Plastics • Stators • Medical equipment • Stainless steel items • Chromium • Silicon • Paper, etc.

  4. Reasons to choose Parylene Coatings • There are many reasons and factors that contribute to the growing popularity of the above-mentioned coatings. These include -  • Chemically inert • Parylene is a chemically inert coating. Hence these can be placed in extreme temperatures or within the industry settings with minimum risks.  • Coatings are transparent  • The key advantages of choosing Parylene over other conformal coatings is that the application is extremely transparent.  • The thickness of the same lies between a single strand of human hair and a dollar bill! All this makes it an ideal choice for coating optical components.

  5. Achieving stress-free applications • Choosing Parylene helps you to attain stress-free applications on products. The same does not have any internal or surface stresses.  • Extremely resistant to solvents  • Industrial components are often subject to critical operational environments and changes. This makes them susceptible to damage. To avoid such a situation, the critical equipment must be coated using Parylene.  • Great thermal resistance and protection  • The right Parylene Coatings can withstand consistent temperatures upto boiling points. However, some other variants of the same can withstand vapors beyond 300 degrees.

  6. Is hydrophobic • Parylene is an ideal coating on plastic as it delivers hydrophobic properties to the same. The same actively repels water and damage.  • Has excellent electrical properties • Parylene is a non-conductive coating. It has a dielectric constant i.e. 5kV per 0.025mm! • The same also has electric insulation, low coefficient of friction and dielectric constant.  • The coating is slim • The Parylene Coatings are ideal for wider industrial settings as it doesn't add weight to the selected product. Also it doesn't distort the light. This keeps it safe against heat and moisture.

  7. Is biocompatible • The thin layer of Parylene is biocompatible and non-toxic. This makes the underlying product safe against organic and inorganic fluids.  • The coatings can be applied on medical equipment to withstand sterilization methods like -  • E-beam • Gamma rays • Autoclave, etc. • Hence the coating can be placed on - coronary stents, implantable devices, hypo needles, hearing aids, catheters, etc.

  8. For electronic components • Electronic components used by the automobile sector need specialised protection. These are often exposed to solvents, heat, oils, salt, etc. This makes it ideal for -  • Sensors • Gaskets • Circuit boards • Power system, etc. • The application of the same is also growing in the aerospace industry.
