You’re on track if you have… • Spent the last three years completing a rigorous curriculum. • Taken an initial SAT and/or ACT (or have them scheduled). • Met with Ms. Rector. • Spent time researching and/or visiting colleges. • Considered possible majors/careers/interests

Letter of Recommendation Kit… Obtain Letter of Recommendation Kit • Available at College Letter of Recommendation Workshop in August and thereafter.
Early Application Options * There are some exceptions to these responses.
Early Application Pros / Cons ADVANTAGES: • More colleges are started to admit a significant portion of students through the Early Process • Applications completed a month or two earlier • Learn the outcome by start of winter vacation • If deferred, move forward to regular decision applications DISADVANTAGES: • The schools will not be able to use semester 1 grades to calculate GPA • If ED, cannot compare financial aid offers • If ED, need to be SURE • Early deadlines • Limited time for additional testing
Early Application • Letter of Recommendation Kit is Due to Counselor: September 11 • Application Due Date Range: October 15 - November 15 • Learn Results: December 15 - 20
Regular Decision Application • Letter of Recommendation Kit is due to Counselor: October 16 • Typical College Due Date: January 1 • Learn Results: March
This Summer… Continue researching and visiting colleges with the goal of focusing on 9-12 that fit your academic and personal goals: • 2-3 Probable Schools • 3-5 Target Schools • 2-3 Reach Schools
Events this Summer Sign Up* & Attend the Events in June & August: • “Getting Started” Essay Writing Workshop (Part 1): JUNE 11 • “Beyond the First Draft” (Part 2): JUNE 13 • College Letter of Recommendation Workshop: AUGUST 7 • Essay Workshop (opportunity #2): Late to Early SEPTEMBER (Exact date TBD)
This Summer… • Analyze which careers/majors might be potential fits. • Keep a journal or notes in preparation for writing college essays/supplements • Don’t ignore the importance of extracurricular activities or what’s available outside the classroom in your college search • Deepen and broaden activities that interest you and/or expand your skills: • Work Experience • Sports • Volunteer Experience • Summer Class/Program
