  7. The Real Value of Success • Found in the pride and satisfaction of one’s accomplishments

  8. Competition • The unknown factor of “who will win” • Gives spice to sports

  9. Focus • Another word for concentration or attention • Ability to maintain focus for the length of a competition is the most important mental skill

  10. Focus • Focus on the here and now • Helps avoid all the pitfalls of the mentally weak

  11. Confidence • Focused inward • Focused on your own ability

  12. Confidence • Decision making • Improves with practice

  13. Control • A correct understanding of what you can control and what you can’t is a must • Stress and anxiety in sports • Caused by elements that our outside of your control • Examples • Weather • Opponents actions • Injuries
