  1. ECE 3144 Lecture 28 Dr. Rose Q. Hu Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Mississippi State University

  2. Reminder from Lecture 27 • Capacitors in series • Capacitors in parallel • Inductors in series • Inductors in parallel and and

  3. KCL and KVL for RCL circuits • Nodal analysis by using KCL and mesh analysis by using KVL can also be applied to circuits containing capacitors and inductors. • The resulting equations for RCL circuits usually are integro-differential equations. • Now we try to gain familiarity with the use of KCL and KVL in RCL circuits. How to solve these equations will be introduced in the next chapter

  4. Example • An example on RCL circuit analysis will be provided in class.

  5. RC operational amplifier: differentiator Consider the circuit given, the node equation is For ideal opamp, we know that v- = v+ =0 and i-= 0 Thus the above equation becomes: Thus the output for the op-amp circuit given is proportional to the derivative of the input voltage source,

  6. RC operational amplifier: integrator The node equation for the given opamp circuit is For ideal opamp, we know that v- = v+ =0 and i-= 0. The original equation reduces to If a capacitor is initially discharged, then vo(0) = 0. Hence,
