  2. Hysterical • Adjective • Uncontrollable emotion • Can be positive or negative • When Jewish people emerged from the train they screamed in a hysterical way.

  3. Brutal • Adjective • Savage or cruel ; inhuman • The Gestapo brutally forced Ellie and his family into the ghetto.

  4. Weariness • Adjective • Physically or mentally exhausted • The girl’s weariness made her fail her final exam for History.

  5. Oblivion • Noun • Completely forgotten or unknown • Ellie felt like he was in a state of oblivion when the train pulled into Auschwitz.

  6. Kapo • Noun • A prisoner who WORKED in the Nazi death camp. Given privileges. • Usually convicts- brutal to Jewish prisoners. • When Ellie got to his bunk house, he met the Kapo that would be supervising him.
