  2. Setting • Vampire mountain, on the outside its steep & rocky & looks almost impossible to climb, & the weather there is mostly icy & wintry. In the inside its filled with lots of caves & chambers. They also store things that a vampire might need like coffins to sleep in, vats of human blood, food & wine.

  3. Characters • Darren Shan, he’s a half vampire & is stronger & faster than most vampires since he’s half human, half vampire, & can also live longer. He’s around 13 years old & is an assistant of Mr. Crepsley. • Mr. (Larten) Crepsley, he’s just basically a full vampire & a vampire general. Since he’s a full vampire, he can’t be exposed to the sun after a few hours.

  4. Plot: Conflict • Mr. Crepsley blooded Darren. The vampire princes say that no more blooding children has been a recent tradition & wondered why he had broken it. All of the princes agreed that Darren will have to face trials to prove himself instead of Mr. Crepsley.

  5. Plot: Resolution • Darren will have to face trials the nest day. He has to perform 5 dangerous acts. The acts are picked at random. One of the acts involves diving to the bottom of a deep pool & retrieve a dropped medallion. Another involves dodging falling boulders, & cross a hall with burning coals. Some acts are more difficult then others, but none are easy. . .

  6. Your Opinion • I thought it was a pretty good book. Maybe I'm hoping to read another series. The book had good details & very interesting. Better than I thought.

About the Author 1- Darren Shan was born in London, at an early age he moved to Limerick Ireland. 2- He grew up watching old Dracula horror movies & read spooky comics. 3- His real name is Darren O'Shaughnessy (something I cant pronounce) (; 4- Was 17 when he finished his 1st novel. 5-Age of 3, he was a wild child, no pre-school would take/ have him

  13. Summary • Darren & Mr. Crepsley, are on a journey to vampire mountain, when they arrive Gavner, (a vampire general) gives Darren a tour. They stop by one door. The hall of death. Vampires die in the hall of death if disobeyed or so. In the end Darren has to go through trials as discussed in meeting to prove himself. If he flunked, he must go to the hall of death, in a cage falling into stakes.
