How Did It Happen? • The French ship Mont-Blanc hit a Norwegian ship called the Imo • Mont-Blanc was carrying explosives when it got hit
What was on the Mont-Blanc? • 2,300 tons of wet and dry picric • 200 tons of TNT • 10 tons gun cotton • 35 tons of benzol
Some facts • No one died that was on the Mont-Blanc’s except for one man died from his injuries • When the ships blew up the Mont-Blanc anchor went flying 2 km into Halifax • Most of Halifax was destroyed • 1950 people died • About 9000 injured • There were several disaster during WW1 and this was one of the several
Some Other Facts • When the Mont-Blanc exploded a huge fire ball got shot into the air • After minutes of Mont-Blanc being on fire it went BOOM!!!!!
How Many People were Killed/Injured • Around 2000 people died, and 9000 people were injured • 25,000 people were left homeless
How Many Houses were Destroyed • Over 325 acres were destroyed • Also 25,000 buildings were destroyed
