  1. ADOPT A CLASSROOM A MU CHAPTER PROJECT TO ASSIST AN EARLY EDUCATOR 2011-2012

  2. ADOPT A CLASSROOM This project is the responsibility of the Excellence in Education/Professional Affairs Committee. Maybe in the future, it will be named the Early and Career Educator Support committee/team. The entire chapter supports the project with monetary donations and is invited to assist at any time.

  3. ADOPT A CLASSROOM WITH LIMITED RESOURCES, MU CHAPTER LOOKED FOR WAYS TO ASSIST EARLY CAREER EDUCATORS. FIRST TO IDENTIFY: WE CONTACTED EDUCATORS THROUGH ‘NEW TEACHER ORIENTATION.’ THIS IS CONDUCTED EACH FALL BY OUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT STAFF AND INDUCTION COACHES.

  4. ADOPT A CLASSROOM FOCUSING ON ONE CLASSROOM EACH YEAR SEEMED LIKE THE MOST LOGICAL CHOICE

  5. New Teacher Orientation Display

  6. New Teacher Orientation The orientation takes place over three days. Usually two of us are present at our display all three days from 7 am-1 pm, greeting new teachers, having them fill out the form for the drawing, and sharing our ‘elevator speeches’ explaining and promoting DKG.

  7. ADOPT A CLASSROOM AT NEW TEACHER ORIENTATION, WE GATHERED INFORMATION ON EDUCATORS NEW TO ST. VRAIN BY ASKING THEM TO SIGN A ‘FORM’ FOR A DRAWING FOR A $25.00 GIFT CARD TO TARGET

  9. ADOPT A CLASSROOM If you win our drawing, you will receive: A $25.00 gift card to Target Books for your specific class/level Assistance to purchase more items Monthly stipends to Scholastic Books Contact with an experienced teacher to possibly help answer more questions.

  12. *We provided Katie with many books from our ‘Books 4 Kids’ project.*We also provided a monthly stipend to Scholastic Books.*Katie asked for and received bean bag chairs for the kids to sit in and read.*Plus, from time to time, we also gave Katie some personal gifts.

  13. The students loved the stuffed animals and books.

  14. ADOPT A CLASSROOM When we read in the classroom, it also gave a time of 15 minutes or so after school to ask how things were going and what else we could do to help out.

  15. ADOPT A CLASSROOM This year we will give Katie another $25.00 gift card to Target, but our efforts will now shift to our newest recipient.

  16. ADOPT A CLASSROOM Laura Kraugh Special Education Teacher Columbine Elementary Title I School. Laura is in her 4th year of teaching.

  17. ADOPT A CLASSROOM Your chapter can also begin an ‘Adopt A Classroom Project !’ Support an early career educator!
