What should be on your board? • Abstract • Problem • Hypothesis/Engineering Goal • Procedure • Results/Data • Conclusion/Implications
Board Layout • The layout of the board should follow the flow of the scientific method and your science fair paper. • Try to keep your data/results in the central part of the board. This is truly the most important information for the judges.
Displaying Data • Be selective with what types of charts and graphs you include • Make sure that you are displaying the most meaningful data and not every piece of data that you collected (too many graphs or graphs with too much info can be overwhelming) • Graphs/charts should have appropriate labels on the columns and axes.
Pictures and Diagrams • Pictures and diagrams can be a great way of explaining what you did during your science fair • Make sure to give credit to the person who took the picture or the site from which you have borrowed a diagram • Pictures can be included in a binder or a photo sheet that is placed in front of your tri-fold display board • Sample tests/surveys can also be placed in a binder or a photo sheet in front of your display board
What type of font and style of font should I use? • The Information should be in 16 point font so that it is clear from several feet away from the board. • Heading can be in a larger font to make the sections stand out • The Title of your project should be the largest font used on the board • Choose a font style that is easy to read: Times New Roman, Calibri, Helvetica
Does my board need to be flashy and fancy? • Your board needs to be neat and orderly. • Extra glitter and decoration does not mean a better score by the judges. • Some students will use colored construction paper behind their printed information to help each section stand out.
