  3. Assisted Fertility Treatments 2010–2011 • The number of started fertility treatment cycles grew in 2010–2011. Preliminary data shows that just over 14,900 treatment cycles were started in 2011, an increase of 10 per cent on 2009. • The number of treatments with donor gametes and treatments with own gametes both grew. Especially the number of treatments using donor sperm has increased (25% up on 2009), insemination treatments in particular. • Donor gametes were used in 15 per cent of all the treatment cycles started in 2010. • The 2007 Act on Assisted Fertility Treatments does not seem to have resulted in any long-term decrease in treatments using donor gametes. • The assisted fertility treatments performed in 2010 resulted in a total of 2,687 infants.
