Biome Summary The freshwater biome has three main ecosystems, the ponds and lakes ecosystem, rivers and streams and wetlands. A freshwater ecosystem would be defined as a body of water with a salt concentration lower than 1%.
Biomes Summary…..Continued Ponds and Lakes The ponds and lakes ecosystem are usually remnants of glaciations ranging from a few square meters to several thousands of kilometers. Lakes usually have a large amount of biodiversity due to the fact that they usually have access to many rivers that lead to another body of water. Ponds however, are isolated from rivers and streams, that means they generally have a very limited amount of biodiversity and can’t sustain life very easily. • Bibliography
Biomes Summary…..Continued Rivers and Streams Rivers and Streams are bodies of water that flow in one direction, they usually start at snowmelts, lakes or springs
Biomes Summary…..Continued Wetlands
