  2. FORMATION, CHARTERING AND INSTITUTING A NEW VFW POST • REQUIREMENTS • 1. REQUIRES NOT LESS THAN 25 NEW OR FORMER MEMBERS (Can not use current VFW members) • 2. APPLICATION FOR CHARTER MUST BE RECOMMENDED BY DISTRICT COMMANDER AND APPROVED BY DEPARTMENT HQ • 3. ALL POST CHARTERS MUST BE APPROVED AND SIGNED BY COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

  3. FORMATION, CHARTERING AND INSTITUTING A NEW VFW POST • PROCEDURES • UPON ISSUE OF CHARTER, DEPARTMENT COMMANDER WILL SELECT AN INSTITUTING OFFICER FOR THE POST • I.O. WILL INSTITUTE THE POST AND INSTALL THE NEW POST OFFICERS WITHIN 60 DAYS. • 3. I.O. WILL INSTRUCT POST OFFICERS IN THEIR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MAINTAINING A CURRENT POST IN GOOD OPERATING CONDITION • HOLD POST MEETINGS MONTHLY – with MINUTES TAKEN AND RECORDED • HAVE A QUORUM OF AT LEAST FIVE MEMBERS AT EACH MEETING • HAVE ALL POST OFFICES FILLED AND MAINTAINED • PARTICIPATE IN COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES • SUBMIT ALL REPORTS AND OTHER “PAPERWORK” TIMELY AND ACCURATELY • RECRUIT NEW MEMBERS AND MAINTAIN MEMBERSHIP AT LEAST AT CURRENT LEVELS
