KEYS TO SUCCESSFUL PROGRAM Leadership • The first component of a successful program is good leadership, that begins with YOU! • Pastoral support • Pull together a team of people who are passionate about the project and include youth • Include team members who have expertise in PR/marketing • It’s best to keep the size of the team limited to 7 to 10 people. Perfect size for a health ministry team. • Recruit Committed participants
KEYS TO SUCCESSFUL PROGRAM Plan • Plan your strategy of who to reach • Brainstorm • Invite other churches to be members of the planning committee • Plan the who, what, where, when
ADVERTISING • Direct Mail • Newsletters and Media Relations – local media contacts ( TV, radio and papers) • Posters and Flyers • Poster/flyer • News release • Newspaper Ad – Community News • Partner with other churches in the communities you serve for community partnerships • Worship bulletin insert • Outline the schedule of the sessions
Host a Kick Off DASH Program Registration for the DASH sessions • Develop a task list • Timeline • Budget • The planning team needs a clear understanding of their responsibilities and deadlines. • Be realistic and start with a program duration of two to three months

Program Implementation • Provide the DASH for Good Health Southern Style training sessions • Make it FUN! • Motivate people to change behavior • Be a model for your participants as well as participate with them
Evaluation • Critical – get feedback from your participants to improve the program • Determine if long-term eating behavior was changed. • Receive input about the training guide, the session format etc • Make any necessary changes or revisions and do it again.
