TSC Meeting - Toronto 1999 Version 2 Publishing Group - an Update Klaus Veil HL7 TSC, Toronto 1999
The Problem • Different formats between and within HL7 Chapters: • Reformatting time >> actual editing time. • Tedious updating of HL7 HQ Access database. • Frank Oemig manually updates his database. • Inconsistencies in the Standard (Frank found 2 pages of errors in the “data” of Ch.6, 3 and 6!) HL7 TSC, Toronto 1999
The Solution • TSC & Board in Orlando agreed to set up a Publishing Committee to address the issues: • PC (re-)introduced prescribed "styles". • PC created a “Style Guide”. • Major re-editing effort… • … about 80% of V2.3.1 was made compliant. • Frank Oemig's data extraction tool has found many inconsistencies (multiple varying definitions, etc.). HL7 TSC, Toronto 1999
The next Steps • ARB will facilitate by: • Providing guidance to TCs how to resolve anomalies (based on Frank's database work). • We plan to include on V2.3.1 CD-ROM: • HL7 Style Guide • MS Word template "HL7.DOT" • MS Word dictionary "HL7.DIC" HL7 TSC, Toronto 1999
How you can help... • Use V2.3.1 Chapters only as base for any edits or proposals. • Adhere to HL7 Style Guide. • If in doubt - ask HQ. HL7 TSC, Toronto 1999
