W3Travel • W3Travel is a competence center between Amadeus and MBDS, for the development of wireless services around the Amadeus booking engine; • W3Travel projects: wireless services for business travelers, available from mobile devices (PDA, mobile phones…); • W3Travel 2004: • common project between Amadeus, Oracle and MBDS; • portal of map-based services, available from devices such as mobile phones or PDA, over wireless networks (Wi-Fi, GPRS…) and using the RFID technology; • server-side architecture and RFID API provided by Oracle.
W3Travel #1 (2001/2002) Objectives: develop a map-based booking tool for emerging wireless devices. Partners: Amadeus, Intel, Oracle, Opteway Technologies: Wi-Fi, LBS, SOAP Demonstration: 3GSM 2002 The project was demonstrated in Cannes, during the 3GSM 2002, on Intel and Oracle boats and on the Opteway booth.
W3Travel #2 (2002/2003) Objectives: develop a portal of servicesavailable in airport, through Wi-Fi wireless devices. Services might help passengers in booking quicker (virtual check-in), being notified for delays… Partners: Amadeus, HP, Oracle Technology: Wi-Fi Demonstration: Nice Airport Feb. 2003 The project was demonstrated in Nice Airport, during the 3GSM slot (3rd week of February 2003). At this time, the Nice airport was a first WiFi-equiped airport in France.
W3Travel #3 (2003/2004) • Objectives: • develop a portal of services, available from any wireless devices and any network, map and browser based, for business travelers in Sophia Antipolis; • use RFID tags as an universal key. • Partners: Amadeus, Oracle Technologies: Wi-Fi and RFID
