  3. History • In 1400 the slave trade happened from Africa to Portugal. • In 1807 the British were the first to pass a law against slavery. • In 1923, the League of Nations discussed how human trafficking was developing. • In 2000, a law against trafficking people was passed and made it illegal.

Facts • Human Trafficking is the third fastest growing enterprise with a $32 billion industry a year. • Trafficking still exists today because of the huge sex demand all over the world. • Average cost of a slave is $90 and 80% of them are sexually exploited and 20% involve labor exploitation. • Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco are 3/13 highest child sex trafficking areas

  6. Current State • Over 600,000 to 800,000 people are being trafficked across international borders every year. • People are being exploited in 127 countries and transported to over 137 countries around the world.
