  7. TRUST • Consolidation of competing companies into one large corporation.

  8. Monopolies • Complete control of an industry by a single company.

  9. Assembly Line • Created by Henry Ford, enhanced production.

  10. Sherman Antitrust Act • First attempt by federal government to regulate corporations and break up monopolies, hard to enforce.

  11. Interstate Commerce Commission • Established Interstate commerce commission designed to regulate rates charges by railroads.

  12. Immigrants before 1890 • Fairly regulated, immigrants came into the U.S. at an average rate.

  13. Immigration after 1890 • Overcrowded America, made conditions in America harsh for immigrants. • Effected many American jobs and the economy.

  14. Segregation • Se4paration of people based on race.

  15. Plessey v. Ferguson • (1896) • Established the principle of “ separate but equal,” said segregated facilities didn’t violate the 14th amendment.

  16. Expansion of Education • Expanded American culture throughout immigrant children.

  17. Jim Crow Laws • Southern laws that separated whites and blacks.

  18. Civil Rights Act of 1964 • Prohibited discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, or gender, equal access to public facilities.

  21. America’s Economical Status • Although, we are one of the top countries, we are still at an unsatisfying economical status.

  22. Solutions • Improve education in schools • Lessen America’s dependency on technology • Improve America’s production in the commerce industry

  23. My Evaluation • In my opinion President Obama’s proposal seems completely beneficial to the United States. • If, we as a nation follow these solutions, the outcome will put the United States at it’s highest position.
