The National Statistical Coordination Board • Functions • Promote and maintain an efficient statistical system in the government • Formulate policies on all matters relating to government statistical operations • Recommend executive and legislative measures to enhance the development and efficiency of the system, including the internal structure of statistical agencies • Establish appropriate mechanism for statistical coordination at the regional, provincial and city levels • Approve the Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP)

The National Statistical Coordination Board • Functions (cont) • Allocate statistical responsibilities among government agencies by designating the statistics to be collected by them, including their periodicity and content • Review budgetary proposals involving statistical operations and submit an integrated budget for the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) • Review and clear, prior to release, all funds for statistical operations • Develop, prescribe and maintain appropriate framework for the improvement of statistical coordination; and • Prescribe uniform standards and classification systems in government statistics.

Data dissemination policies in the PSS • Policies on Dissemination • Approving and adopting the general policy on the dissemination of statistics on the Internet (16-2011) • Background • 15 out of 18 Departments have no Statistics page; statistics are found on Reports, Performance, Database pages • 4 out of 18 Departments has no statistics at all on their website • Enjoins all government offices to create a section on Statistics on their website • Statistical page/section shall contain the following: • Dynamic statistical databases; time series data • Data archive • Metadata • Advanced release calendar
