1. Jacob Riis He worked to improve city living conditions. He also wrote a book called “How the Other Half Lives" and a few more. Showed photographs of slum life to the United States. Was called the “Emancipator of the Slums”. He worked for 25 years to try and improve the living conditions for the poor. He wrote and lectured about the poor.
