JOHN MARSHALL STUDENT CREED • I pledge to be respectful of myself and others at all times, treating people with courtesy. • I will arrive in dress code daily, and speak appropriately. • I will work daily to improve academically, and read for 30 minutes every night. • I will be on-time to class, and be prepared to be successful. • As a John Marshall Bear, I will represent the school with pride, and do my part to make John Marshall the first model Great Expectations MS/HS in Oklahoma.

Disruption of Instruction 1st Offense: Student/Teacher conference, start Intervention form 2nd Offense: Parent Contact 3rd Offense: Team Conference with student, teachers, and administrators. Referral to appropriate administrator
Profanity Use Student/Teacher conference Parent Conference/Team conference intervention Three days in-school suspension with parent conference Three/five days suspension, possible long-term suspension/hearing and alternative placement
Sexual Misconduct 1st Offense: Counseling with student, parent, administrator, police for possible solutions, possible suspension depending on extent of harassment 2nd Offense: Three-ten days suspension with parent, administrator, police and counselor present for conference
Fighting 1st Offense: Five days suspension, referral and ticket 2nd Offense: Long-term suspension, taken to CIC, parent conference, and alternative placement
Bullying Referral to administrator and parent contact Parent Conference Five days suspension/ticket Suspension and Long-term hearing scheduled
CELL PHONES PHONES: Phones are allowed during breakfast and lunch. All phones, ear plugs, electronic devices, and/or any other wireless telecommunication device MUST be turned off when students enter class. Phones that are confiscated will be turned in to office, parent notified.
John Marshall Dress Code Policy2012-13 • Students will wear the following polo or collared shirt with the following colors: MS (Red) HS (Navy Blue) • Students may not expose low chest or midriff • Students can wear the following color slacks, Capri’s, skirts, shorts, or skorts (two inches above the knees) Khaki only, no jeans except on Spirit days, free dress (still according to district dress code) • ALL pants will be worn on the waistline properly (absolutely no sagging) • Any type of athletic shoe is acceptable along with boot and closed-toe dress shoes. NO FLIP FLOPS, HOUSE SHOES OR LOOKALIKES. • If a student would like to wear a coat or jacket to class, it must be solid gray with a full zipper • All winter jackets must be placed in lockers before 1st period
UNIFORM NO-NO’S Cut/torn jeans, short shorts, hats, head wraps, visors, sweatbands, and sunglasses.

SCANNING All students are required to go through the scanner at the gym door until 7:25 a.m. Students are allowed to enter the front door scanners after 7:25 a.m… NO EXCEPTIONS!
LUNCH/BOUNDARIES Please clean up after yourself. Stay seated and do not get up to wander around. No horse playing. Do not leave the cafeteria. If you must leave, ask for permission.
Attendance Policy Five (5) unexcused absences during the semester may result in a failure grade (F). Starting this year, students may be ticketed for skipping class, even if you are in the building. For excused absences, students will have up to 5 days (per district policy.) to make-up missing assignments. After the 5 day period, the student will receive a permanent zero in the grade book if work has not been completed. For unexcused absences, a student will have 3 days to turn in late work, with a 15% penalty each day toward the grade of that assignment.

Truancy A student is considered truant when absent from the classroom without the knowledge of either the school/parent. If a student is absent from school four or more days or parts of days within a four week period without a valid excuse for ten (10) or more days during a semester, the attendance officer will inform the parents that they are not in compliance with the law and will notify the district attorney for Oklahoma County. Ticket may be issued. Parents can be fined for each day their child is truant from school.

School Activities A maximum of 10 days of activity absences, per semester from any one class are permitted during a school year.
Buses Riding a bus is not a right and can be taken away if behavior is not appropriate. Be aware that buses are now outfitted with video cameras.
Student Drivers All students who drive to school must have proper documentation to drive (license an insurance verification….or else
Closed Campus All students are required to remain on campus throughout the entire school day.
Tobacco/Drug Free School DON’T POSSESS DON’T USE DON’T BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE DON’T DISTRIBUTE
Clubs/Sports Afterschool buses with a pass from coach or sponsor only: Mon/Wed at 4:30 pm Starting Aug. 20th GET INVOLVED!!!
Parent Visitation Parents are welcome in our school, however, they must report to the main office and request to have their child sent to the main office. Appointments must be made to speak with teachers during the school day.

End of Instruction(EOI) ALL STUDENTS MUST PASS 4 OUT OF 7 EOI EXAMS TO MEET GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS.
JOHN MARSHALL MID-HIGH SCHOOL CHALLENGE 25 BOOK CAMPAIGN All John Marshall students, grades 7-12, must read 30 Minutes nightly.
John Marshall’s New Programs to support student success in 2012-13 Finance Academy for 9th grade students TFCU in-school branch available for work-based learning for 11th and 12th graders ACT Prep during school hours with Ms. Simpkins and Dr. Rittner from UCO Concurrent enrollment classes 1st & 2nd semester After-school tutoring on Mon/Wed, with bus
