  1. Ordering by Units of Measurement Activity: Check off name as student completes activity Description: Materials: coloured construction paper strips different lengths. Objects different masses, different areas, and liquids different temperatures (with optional thermometer), Make prompt on strip: can you order these by lengths ( or temp etc…)? Let students take the time to figure out an order Take a picture of them during or after to document, and write quotes on the back of this paper for each student as they share in their math vocabulary Learning Goal: To order two or more items by length, mass, temperature, area, and capacity Success Criteria: • can order items by length • can order items by mass • can order items by temperature (hot, cold) • can order items by area attributes • can order containers by capacity Expectations: • Math • Measurement (M) – measure and compare length, mass, capacity, area, and temperature of objects/materials, and the passage of time, using non-standard and standard units, through free exploration, focused exploration, and guided activity • 2.1 compare and order two or more objects according to an appropriate measure (e.g., length, mass, area, temperature, capacity) and use measurement terms (e.g., hot/cold for temperature, small/medium/ large for capacity, longer/shorter or thicker/thinner for length) • Emotional • 2.3 demonstrate self-motivation, initiative, and confidence in their approach to learning by selecting and completing learning tasks (e.g., choose learning centres independently, try something new, persevere with tasks) • Language • 1.7 use specialized vocabulary for a variety of purposes (e.g., terms for things they are building or equipment they are using)
