Background of Kakadu national park • Kakadu National Park is in the Northern Territory it is 171 km southeast of Darwin. Kakadu National Park is located within the Alligator Rivers Region of the Northern Territory. • It covers an area of 19,804 km.
Flora and fauna • A common native fauna are wallabies there are different types of them. There are different types of animals from common to rare endangered species of animals like Gouldian finch. • Flora Kakadu's flora is among the richest in northern Australia with more than 1700 plant species recorded which is a result of the Park's geological, landform and habitat diversity. Kakadu is also considered to be one of the most weed free national parks in the world.
Introduced Species and there affects • Some introduced feral animals in Kakadu are Asian water buffalo, cattle, pigs, horses, donkeys, cats, dogs, rats, mice, house geckos and European bees. All of theses animals come from different countries like China, Europe. • Take the Asian water buffalo cause damage in a number of ways. Their sheer size, weight and hard hooves compact the soil and inhibit plant growth. There wallowing muddies the water, making it unsuitable for many aquatic plants and animals. They eat large volumes of grasses and other plants, competing directly with native wildlife.
