ICT Standards and Guidelines Why are they needed? CONCERN :Excessive diversity in the adoption of computer technology in the Public Sector.SOLUTION:Guaranteeing uniformity and consistency in ICT projects in the Public Sector.Promoting the ICT industry in Lebanon and assisting where possible.HOW?Quality Standards must become common practice.

ICT Standards and Guidelines Objectives Attainment By applying standards in government for data, hardware, software, procurement of ICT related equipment, ICT packages, and all ICT related project requirements.

Standards Implementation Issues • Technology changes will require constant enhancements to standards • Implementation may be hindered by Bureaucracy • Existing procedures and systems may not be compliant with recommendations • Standards may be implemented in part and not in full resulting in conflicts • Private Sector may initially react negatively. • Implementation monitoring schemes may prove difficult. • Unequal ICT maturity among government agencies might be problematic
