Soccer Coverage Scores Big with Fans Year-Round FUTBOL PICANTE is a one-hour roundtable show focused on Mexican Soccer, which uses highlights and opinion discussions designed to entertain, and inform our viewers. The show also seeks to bring the thoughts and views of the biggest names in Mexican Soccer to viewers through interviews with players, coaches and other prominent figures in studio and on location. MEXICAN LEAGUE ESPN Deportes will air LIVE Mexican League Soccer games every matchdate over the Apertura and Clausura seasons, totaling 34 games. In the Apertura (August – November) there will be 11 primetime Friday games, two primetime Wednesday games and four games on Saturday afternoon. The Friday game is the only game played that day, and both the Wednesday and Friday games will most likely air ONLY on Deportes in the US. 2008 EURO CUP First played in 1958, The UEFA European Football Championship is now a global television event — second only to the FIFA World Cup. Competition is among Europe’s national teams (field up to 48). The 2008 Euro will take place from June 7 – 29 and all games will air on ESPN Deportes the exclusive Spanish carrier. UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) is the governing body for Soccer throughout Europe. The Champions League is the most prestigious club championship on the continent, only 32 top-ranked teams across all the biggest European Leagues qualify. ESPN Deportes will air over 90 leagues games (60 exclusive) and is the exclusive Spanish carrier. UEFA Champions League Magazine is a weekly half-hour program provided by UEFA and UEFA Champions League Highlights, a one-hour program following each round that will be produced by ESPN and hosted by Jose Hernandez with the best highlights from the match-day. MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER The premiere pro soccer league in the US comes to ESPN Deportes. During the regular season ESPN Deportes will air a Thursday night game of the week. Baseball Coverage – A Homerun All Year Long LIGA VENEZOLANA DE BEISBOL The Liga Venezolana de Béisbol is the highest level of baseball in Venezuela. The league houses eight teams in two divisions (East & West) which play 62 games from October to December. The Venezuelan champion moves on to the Caribbean World Series to face the champions of the baseball leagues of the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Mexico. LIGA DOMINICA DE BEISBOL The Liga Dominicana de Béisbol is a winter baseball league consisting of six baseball teams spread across the Dominican Republic. The league consists of many Major League Baseball players and is played with teams from Mexico, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico. LIGA MEXICANA DEL PACIFICO The Mexican Pacific League is Mexico's most important baseball league. The eight-team league's regular season runs from October to December and is followed by a playoff series in January to determine the league champion. The league's winner takes part in the Caribbean Series each year.
