  1. Travel Trailers in the A-Zone and V-Zone (Last updated July 25, 2006)

  2. A Manufactured HomeIs: • a structure built on a permanent chassis • can be moved in one or more sections • designed so it can be used with or without a permanent foundation when attached to utilities; and is not a “recreational vehicle” • According to FEMA, the term Manufactured Home includes a mobile home and a “double wide”

  3. A Recreational Vehicle Is: • built on a single chassis that is 400 square feet or less • either self-propelled or permanently towed by a light duty truck • not designed to be used as a permanent dwelling, but rather for temporary quarters for camping, travel, seasonal use or recreation • is licensed and road ready • If a travel trailer does not meet the RV criteria, it is a manufactured home for NFIP purposes.

  4. Manufactured Homes in A and V Zones Must meet the same flood protection requirements as conventional housing Note: The community may have established higher standards than the NFIP for manufactured homes in A and V Zones Contact your parish or community floodplain administrator, or the Louisiana Manufactured Housing Commission at (225) 342-2943 for guidance

  5. Recreational Vehiclesin A and V Zones Are not required to be anchored and elevated to or above the BFE if: • If the RV is on the site for no more than 180 consecutive days, • Has quick disconnects of all utilities, • Has no porches or room additions attached, • Is fully licensed and ready for highway use. For more information and community specific requirements, contact the parish or community floodplain administrator.
