There are also Private Hospitals but theydo not have the right to train Residents

UNDERGRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION Greece has 7 Medical Schools:1. Athens (Attica), 2. Thessaloniki (Central Macedonia), 3. Ioannina (Epirus), 4. Larissa (Thessaly), 5. Patras (Peloponnisos), 6. Alexandroupolis (Thrace), 7. Heraklion (Crete).
UNDERGRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION Every year about 900 Medical Students admitted to the Schools UNDERGRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM: 6 YEARS
ENT Residency Program in Greece5 yrs Training Program1 yr General Surgery 3 yrs ENT 1 semester Plastic Surgery and 1 semester Ped. Otorhinolaryngology
ENT Residency Program in Greece32 out of 63 hospitals provide full training,31 provide training from 6 months – 2 yrs.
· There are not exams to start the program.· There are not obligatory exams during the program.· There are final exams to get the specialty ''The EBE-ORL -HNS exam is recognized as an additional qualification but specialists are not certified with the "Diploma of the European Board of Otorhinolaryngology” ENT Residency Program in Greece
In Greece the Educational and Training system,and the Post Graduate Medical Training Program are managed by the Ministry of Health.
Recently the Health Authorities started thinking that the Residency Program has to be organized by the National Scientific Societies
Upcoming changes ( 2019) • New Educational Centers • Each center can provide full time training • Two committees (North and South Greece) to evaluate the educational centers • Entry of trainees twice a year (list) • Exit exam twice a year, written and oral (2 exam committees) • Log book • 5 years of training (minimum)
