Charles Bloom Forestry Career Preparation • The Forestry Program provides students with a broad-based practical and theoretical background in the forestry industry. This program has been designed to prepare students for pre-trades programs. • students interested in careers such as welder, heavy duty mechanic, faller, bucker, truck driver, forest manager, or fire fighter may be very interested in this program
Kalamalka Visual Arts: Drawing & Painting (Pre - AP and AP) • This course is designed for dedicated art students in grades 10, 11, & 12 who want to take their skills and creative abilities to a high level of achievement • emphasis on quality, breadth and concentration in this course will prepare students for Advanced Placement Studio Art portfolio requirements. • Students will take part in specialized workshops and field trips in addition to regular classes
Kalamalka • The focus of the course will be on wide-ranging literary experiences in all disciplines of literature: poetry, prose, drama, and expository • This is an advanced course in English that may be taken in addition to English 12 • In addition to gaining 4 credits for English Literature, students will write the AP exam in May • Successful completion of the exam gives the student university credit or placement in second year university course work. Vernon Secondary • offered outside the timetable at VSS and on-line • learn how our economy works, be able to make sense of what is happening in the news, run your own virtual company and compete provincially and internationally against students from all over the world • run your own virtual company, manage your own stock portfolio, explore topics like consumer decisions, the business firm, the role of government, environmental economics and the global economy • students may write the AP exam for university credit Economics 12 AP

Kalamalka Secondary The Students Without Borders Academy is a program of education for global Citizenship. SWB-A uses online learning, webinars, skype, state of the art software, dynamic student travel abroad, camp setting, field study, Smithsonian Tropical Research Institues, language study in Spanish, and indigenous peoples studies exploring Embera and Kuna Culture. SWB-A explores conservation of sea turtles, rees and rain forests. SWB-A students vist the red Cross, the united Nations, The Peace Corps and Internationa Universities in the Ciudad del Saber. VIRTUAL CLASS PROGRAM with www.vLearn.ca • students in all SD#22 high schools the choice of 9 Virtual Class courses. • courses include Chemistry 11 and 12, Physics 11 and 12, Biology 12, Calculus 12, AP Economics 12, AP Literature 12 and History 12. • students need only have access to an internet enabled computer, a headset and for some courses, a Wacom tablet. • specialist classroom teachers provide ‘live and interactive’ instruction to students situated in various locations throughout the school district and province. • classroom instruction occurs “live” daily via interactive web based software, teacher websites and learning resources and are also fully recorded and available for study and review 24/7. • this means that students never miss any instruction, whether they are sick, traveling or away pursuing athletics or other activities, and can review all teaching, lessons, material and resources as often as necessary.
