  1. SELL: ALJC renewal SELL Meeting – May 2009

  2. ALJC deal: A fruitful collaboration between SELL members Ataturk Dokuz Heal-Link Autonoma Barcelona Roma Tre Girona Akdeniz Complutense Navarra Kalamata Consortium

  3. ALJC-SELL: The first cross-country consortium • First discussion SELL Meeting in Thessalonica, May 2006 • A cross-country model is proposed • CBUC volunteers to act as coordinator of SELL members for this deal. • September 2006 Proposal for ALJC Full Collection 627 journals • In November 2006 we agree a 55% discount on e-access fees • Currently we have 44 members: • Greece - Heal-Link – counted as 22 members • Spain – 15 members • Italy – 1 member • Turkey/Ankos – 6 members

  4. The benefits • cross-country: all institutions in all countries are included in the same consortium. • All institutions enjoy the same discount • You don’t have to deal with 49 different publishers!! • Simple: one price, one license • Great value for money!

  5. ALJC - 2009 versus 2007 • 627 versus 773 journals • More stable collection: journals with irregular dates of publication have been taken out of the collection. • 47 versus 49 publishers • Same license based on John Cox Model • Same single pricing model • Again, special discounts for SELL members • Perpetual Archive: now more than 50% of the collection included in Portico. Currently talking with publishers to include all journals.

  6. ICOLC Statement on the Global Economic Crisis • We recognise that the current unique financial situation is/will affect library budgets. • We are flexible and creative and we have already proved this with the first SELL-ALJC deal • An “opt-out” clause is being discussed with the Steering Committee

  7. Preliminary proposal • 2009 Collection: list of titles and prices • We will maintain this offer for 2010 if SELL members agree to license the 2009 collection. • 3 year license: 2010, 2011, 2012 • Each institution will be invoiced and served by Swets office responsible for that country. • 5% annual increase • More members = Better price!!

  8. Agenda for the renewal • 1st week of June – Preliminary offer details distributed to all SELL members • 3rd week of June – SELL members to provide feedback on the proposal • Pricing • Collection – Accept to subscribe 2009 list • September – final proposal to be distributed to all members • October – Special SELL/ALJC session in Paris (pre or post ICOLC meeting) • 9th November deadline to confirm the orders and fix the discount level
