  2. Statistics • Student spend average $662 per semester on course materials • Most student attend college for 4 years • Spend around $5296 during their whole college life.

  3. Reasons • Publishers can charge however much they want • Professors choose the textbook they want for class • New editions cost 12% more than the old editions

  4. Government • Pass Higher Education Opportunity Act • Publishers must provide pricing information to professors • Publishers must break up textbook bundles • College must list assigned textbook during registration

  5. Current method 1 • Renting books • About 61% cheaper • Usually for one semester • Can’t write in book

  6. Current method 2 • Buy the book overseas • Pricing usually cheaper overseas • Internet makes this possible • Not all textbooks are available 35.14 euros is about 48.51 U.S. dollars

  7. My Method • Buy the book online used or new and sell them back on the internet • Like the combination of renting and buying online • Save 90% of your money • Buying books online saves around 20-40% • Need to have enough money to buy all your textbook online before you are able to sell back at end
