  2. Ethos • Our ethos derives from the Christian mission to love others and respond to human need. • Our roots go back to 1884 when Duncan Macpherson became Auckland’s first city missionary, with a vision for transforming society through practical service. • Today, we are a client-centred innovative, responsive, professional social service organisation that works alongside people, helping them to reach their goals and inspiring hope. • We value each other, act with compassion and respect, and promote consultation and open communication. We are also pragmatic, purposeful and focused on solutions that bring about positive and lasting changes.
