  2. DVB Standards Development Process • Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) Project is a consortium of nearly 300 companies working together to create international standards for digital television. • All stakeholders are represented. • Commercial Module group collects and documents a consensus set of user requirements. • These Commercial Requirements are supplied to the Technical Module group who issue Call for Proposals and develops the Specification. • The Specification is then approved by the DVB Steering Board and then offered to international standards bodies.

  3. DVB-CP Commercial Module • Consists of cross-industry group defining Commercial Requirements for Content Protection and Copy Management (CPCM) systems for various DVB systems. • The DVB-CP held 12th meeting on March 12 in London. • Commercial Requirements document is nearly finished. • The document outlines the requirements for both a baseline DVB-CPCM system and the interface to proprietary CPCM systems. • The draft Commercial Requirements have been sent to the Technical Module (DVB-CPT) for review and comment.

  4. DVB-CPT Technical Module • The DVB-CPT held 5th meeting on March 13 in London. • Technical review of Commercial Requirements has led to requests to the DVB-CP for clarification. • The DVB-CPT is preparing a Call for Proposals for CPCM technology vendors that will contain the Commercial Requirements. • The DVB-CPT Call for Proposals will be posted on the CPTWG web site - http://www.cptwg.org • Planning to hold a DVB-CPT meeting in Los Angeles during a CPTWG week for Proponents’ presentations.

  5. Current Timetable • The DVB-CP Commercial Requirements document should be finalized and approved by DVB-CM in May. • The DVB-CPT Call for Proposals should be approved by the DVB-TM in May and issued in early June. • Deadlines for technology vendors to submit Proposals has not been fixed but anticipate 12 weeks from CfP issuance. • Dates for future DVB-CP and DVB-CPT meetings have not yet been confirmed. • Reports on the DVB-CP/CPT activities will be given at future CPTWG meetings.
