Surface Facilities: 904 zone A.Sharma, D. Hay
Surface facilities: 678 : 500m2 storage “tent” Critical to the logistics sequence of liberating ISR and re-equipping SX5 Nov 2011: another tent will be needed to clear tooling in ISR
ISR: conditions naturally stable enough Cut & fill tunnel-beam & expt slabs --> Floor stability excellent Temperature 21 ± 3 degrees C (for RPC 20 ± 2 is ideal) Relative humidity: 45 ± 10 % (For RPC 40 ± 5 % is ideal) Building mods & HVAC to achieve these conditions in all of 904 VERY expensive: CMS suggestion to use temperature-controlled internal lab enclosures with central HVAC

Plan for the ground floor Position sensor test bench MAB storage /Bench control Load zone Alignment benches • Remove walls of R-010 and R-006 • Probably keep the platform in the hall • Mobile (rolling, steel frames) MAB storage . • build new personnel door and a small SAS(temperature stability) • Camera bench and Barrel bench controls are in the MAB storage area • Large open space in front of Tilt bench to allow truck to get in to pick up MAB box • Possible location for 4T mini-magnet
Plan for the 1st floor • merge 1-008 and 1-006: office • merge 1-001 and 1-004 lab • extend balcony to 1-203 • move door of 1-001 • (if possible) keep platform in hall for storage office office B- sensor + camera Lab BFG (fibre)
Complication : Building structue • floor thickness is ~20 cm • floor is built up of independent slabs • ‘bunker’ to be filled up with concrete
Measurements and refurbishments • Intrinsic floor stability looks (surprisingly) good but must be measured in detail • Install Survey network • Vibration measurements while heavy vehicles go past the building, exit firestation • See if daytime use of the alignment benches is possible. • Revision of the full electric network • Revision and rethinking the HVAC for better year-round stability ~ ISR (removing the tower, and the piping at the back of the building) • Insulation of the building? • New personnel door near main access door , equipped with small SAS. • Change to faster opening main access door. • TOTAL needed: guess :400kCHF..awaiting estimates
