Indonesia • Micro hydro in tea plantation
Korea • Utilization of landfill gas for electricity generation and district heating energy source
Japan • Incentive Program for Residential Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Energy Project
Pakistan • Wind Energy Pilot Project. Government of Pakistan (GoP) approves NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) in conjunction with AEDB (Alternative Energy Development Board) to embark on a 10MW pilot R&D Wind Farm Project.
Korea & Mongolia • Renewable Energy using hybrid solar and wind power system called Solawin
Fact Sheet on GEEP Project Site: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia Capacity: Wind Power 30 kW, PV 80 kW Area: 3.3 million square meter Objective:- Expand the Solawin concept to create a forest and culture theme park leading ultimately to reforestation to combat creeping desertification Phase 1: May 2007 to April 2009. Construction of Arboretum and International Friendship Centre. Two locations identified. Phase 2: May 2009 to April 2047. Expand to additional 10 locations in Inner Mongolia and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Future Action Plan for GEEP • Implement GEEP Project as a WEC flagship projectfor the Asia-Pacific & S. Asia Region • -Establish a Committee under WEC auspices to monitor results of GEEP • -Develop GEEP Project into a commercial model and promote replication for other economies • - Establish a regional fund dedicated to support efforts to combat desertification
Future Expansion Plan • Phase 1: InnerMongolia, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, one location per each area • Phase 2: Mongolia, Gobi Desert, Inner Mongolia (10 locations) 1 phase plan area 2 phase plan area
