How is the information reported to court, attorney, or client? Within hours of completing the ASI screening tool, SASSI screening tool and phone interview, a report will be generated and emailed or faxed to Judge or Attorney. Clients will receive information and complete interview over the phone with a Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor (LSAC) “Our out of town clients love your services” Rachel, SLC legal secretary
After Assessment then what? LSAC completing the assessment is available to attend court hearings Case Management services available to clients as they transition to treatment services.
Still need more information? Substance abuse assessment criteria is found on the DOPL website under LSAC rules. The process includes an initial screening and assessment. W.E.A.R.S. Assessments meet State sentencing guidelines. Subsections 41-6a-505(1), (2), and (3)
Why do I need an assessment and/or recommended treatment? The provisions in Subsections 41-6a-505 (3) that require a sentencing court to order a convicted person to participate in a screening, an assessment, or an educational series. "Initial Assessment" means the procedure of gathering psycho-social information, which may include the application of the Addiction Severity Index, in order to recommend a level of treatment and to assist the mental health therapist supervisor in the information collection process and may include a referral to an appropriate treatment program. R156-60d Utah Code
FACTS The greatest common denominator for success in treatment was immediate involvement upon a set of circumstances that encouraged change, ie. criminal charges, death, divorce and accuracy in assessing treatment and/or deterrence needs. The number one reason for relapse is STRESS. Misdiagnosis and extreme assessments can cause immediate relapse.

Post test is given and graded to assure course comprehension If your client is not savvy to navigating the services, case management services are available.
