Guidelines for Public Data • Data are made available “as is”. No additional data analysis or data management will be required by MDC to fulfill data requests • Requestor should agree that the data will be used for a specific research purpose and will not be distributed to other parties
The steering committee expects that any use of MOFEP data will be accompanied by the appropriate citations and acknowledgements • Requestors are encouraged to contact the original investigator responsible for the data, and to consider collaboration and/or co-authorship with the original investigator
Prior to publication, requestors should submit a copy of the paper to the MOFEP coordinator for review. Following publication, requestors should provide a copy of the paper to the MOFEP coordinator • Only the MOFEP data manager may provide MOFEP data to entities external to the MDC. Requests should specify the data needed and the purpose for accessing the data
Guidelines for Principal Investigator Data • PI’s have exclusive access to their scientific data for a three-year proprietary period (the publication-rights period) following data collection. • Prior to expiration of the publication-rights period, only the PI’s may provide data to entities external to and within MDC.
Once access to data is granted by the PI, requestors should consider collaboration and/or co-authorship with original investigators • Specific research purpose • No distribution to other parties • Appropriate acknowledgements and citations • Review prior to publication • Copy submitted to MOFEP coordinator • Requests should specify data needed and purpose
