  5. Scoring PLMS • Each jerk must be >.5 to 10 seconds in duration • Each jerk must represent an 8uV increase in amplitude above resting EMG • Must have 4 jerks separated by no less than 5 seconds and no more than 90 seconds

  6. LOC ROC C3-A2 O1-A2 Chin EMG EKG LAT-RAT EMG Intercostal EMG Airflow Significant only when accompanied by EEG arousal Chin EMG may decrease prior to jerk Jerks may last from .5 to 5 seconds Single PLMS jerk

  7. Calculations • Total number of qualifiable events divided by the total hours of sleep (TST)
