  2. Question 1a: Summarising Read Question 1a so you know the focus of your summary. Q1a is worth 4 marks. Spend 5 minutes reading Source 1. As you read, underline/highlight any phrases which relate to the question. Aim to find 4 phrases. Spend 2 minutes writing these in your own words in the correct spaces.

  3. Question 1b: Inference In the first paragraph, the writer feels... I know this because they say... This means... Read Question 1b so you know whose feelings you are going to explore, and about what. Q1b is worth 4 marks. Spend 3 minutes re-reading Source 1. As you read, underline/highlight any phrases which reveal the person’s thoughts. Aim to find at least 4 phrases. Spend 5 minutes explaining how the person feels. Aim to make and explain 4 points.

  4. Question 2: Summarising In the first paragraph, the writer... I know this because the writer says... Read Question 2 so you know the focus of your summary. Q2 is worth 8 marks. Spend 5 minutes reading Source 2. As you read, underline/highlight any phrases which relate to the question. Aim to find 8 phrases. Spend 10 minutes writing your summary of Source 2. Aim to make 8 points.

  5. Question 3: Use of Language What is the writer writing about? How do they write about it? Quote! What does it make you think of/feel like? Read Question 3. Q3 is worth 12 marks. Spend 5 minutes reading Source 3. Decide what its purpose is, and highlight places where techniques for that purpose are used. Aim to find 6 techniques. Spend 15 minutes writing your analysis. Aim to write about at least 6 techniques altogether.
