If you only know his name: in case of men: last name + sir (úr) in case of women: first name and formal address (maga) In case of women, first name + Madam (asszony) means she is known due to her husband. In case of men: first name + sir (úr) refers to attendants
If you do not know his or her name: Sir! (Uram!) Madam! (Asszonyom!) Miss! (Kisasszony!) Miss (Kisasszony): younger than approx. 25 years Madam (Asszonyom): the most general form Lady (Hölgyem): does she really seem to be a lady? If not, use the word please (kérem).
At meetings: only to the host. • At receptions: whoever you converse with • Should not include personal details • Respect the received card (do not take notes on it, do not crumple it up)
On the side with your name, if possible in the top right corner, use acronyms: • a.c.(„avec compliment”) - with compliments • p.r.(„pour remercier”) – with gratitude • p.f.(„pour féliciter”) – good luck • p.f.n.a.(„pour féliciter la nouvelle année) – Happy New Year Other text should not be written on it
