  5. The Team Approach A sponsor is a member who: • Helps charter a new club. • Follows leads. • Generates interest and enthusiasm for the new club. • Recruits members. • Gets all of the appropriate paperwork submitted to World Headquarters. 5

  6. A Sponsor’s Duties • The ‘prime’ contact to organize a new club. • Set up regular club meetings. • Complete the paperwork and plan the charter presentation. • All work should lead to a Charter 3

  7. Official Duties • Ensure the club is strong and fully functional. • Make sure officers understand their duties and have the tools they need to perform them. 13

  12. What does Excellence mean? • Keep the meeting short and within time limits. • Include 3 aspects, if time is limited. • Select a demonstration meeting team. • Select Toastmasters to assume various roles. • Invite high-level representatives. • Have each guest sign a guest book. Demo Meeting 13

Excellence continued…. • Introduce the sponsors and mentors. • Conduct a brief question-and-answer session. • Ask Toastmasters members to share success stories. • Complete the Application to Organize form. • Submit the Application to Organize to World Headquarters with the charter fee.   14. Feed Their Enthusiasm Steps to Chartering • Announce the next meeting. • Select temporary officers. • Follow up with reminder notices. • Collect money from those who have decided to join. • Obtain enough money to pay the charter fee. • Conclude with recognition. 18

Quality Club Meetings • Sponsor / Mentor (or Marketing person) assigned attends EVERY meeting. • The backbone of successful meetings is preparation. • Familiarize the new club team with ideal programming materials. • Create a member-focused service perspective. • Encourage new club groups to witness “Moments of Truth” from The Successful Club Series. 16

  16. Create a future momentum Member Retention begins at day 1 • Retention and finding new members is important to a club’s longevity and performance. Start at day 1 • Involving each member at the beginning provides continuity for the new club and assures a strong future leadership base. • The entire club dynamic created in the beginning keeps members satisfied and involved in the program. 21
