  2. About FAST TRAIN Programs • Began in 1990 as a cooperation with VDOE, US State Department, and MASON • 1,200 graduates teaching in over 40 countries • Programs include: • Elementary Education, ESL Education, Special Education, and Advanced IB Studies

Advanced Studies in IB Certificate • Five courses for certificate • EDUC 621: Teaching and Learning in the IB Schools • EDUC 622: Curriculum Development Across IB Programs • EDUC 623: Models & Strategies for Teaching & Learning in IB Schools • EDUC 624: Assessment & Learning in IB Schools • EDUC 626: Inquiry into Action: IB Teachers, Learners, and Schools • Earn the IB Teacher Award Level I

  5. Advanced Studies in IB M.Ed. • Advanced Studies in Teaching & Learning Program (ASTL) • 5 additional courses for M.Ed. (one calendar year) • Earn IB Teacher Award Level II • Program fully aligned with National Board Professional Teaching Standards

  6. Why Complete the Program? • Gain an in-depth AND broad knowledge of the IB curriculum • Earn graduate credit, certificate or Master’s degree • Qualify for post-graduate license or licensure renewal points • Become Highly Qualified Teacher with M.Ed.

  7. Coursework • Assignments allow you to explore issues involved in IB education • Learn about PYP, MYP & DP, but focus on the area appropriate for you • 20 hours of fieldwork Required • First course completed in an authorized IB school • Additional fieldwork completed in your school/classroom
