Link-Local-Signaling History • Originally proposed as part of Cisco’s graceful restart proposal (draft-nguyen-ospf-lls-00-05.txt) • John Moy proposed using the existing link-local opaque LSA for graceful restart signaling. • Slated for publication as experimental RFC after Moy’s proposal eventually became RFC 3623. OSPF WG - IETF 66

Link-Local Signaling Requirements • OSPF MANET - All the proposals use LLS to signal additional information. • Signaling coincident with OSPF packets affecting OSPF neighbor FSMs (lots of debate during graceful restart wars) • Over the years, similar proposals from other parties OSPF WG - IETF 66

  4. Recommendation to OSPF WG • draft-ietf-ospf-lls-01.txt • New boiler plate • Adds OSPFv3 specification • Some clarifications • Make WG Document (standards track) and add to charter OSPF WG - IETF 66
