  1. Staying at Deguang Exchange Trip in Taiwan Deguang Catholic high school 台南市天主教德光中學 Valeria Martinez 马芙琳 2012年11月16日

  2. Class上課 We had different classes every day, but we still got to sit in a couple classes with some of the Deguang students. Deguang students have uniforms, which I thought were cute. I think Taiwanese classes are a bit boring, because all the students do is listen to the teacher lecture, no hands on activities or things like that. However, I really liked the lunch routine, how everyone went up to serve themselves in their classroom. And the lunch food is really good.

  3. Erhu and weaving二胡 手工藝 A few ladies played the erhu for us, and then they taught us how to play a couple songs. We also wove bracelets and Christmas ornaments. The erhu is made of really interesting materials, like snakeskin and straw. It was fun to learn, and surprisingly not so difficult. When we made the bracelets, I was glad that I actually knew how to do the hemp weaving, except we did it was Taiwanese-themed string.

  4. Cooking class烹飪 We made火腿饼 with the other exchange students We sort of made everything from scratch, so it was a cool experience. And they turned out pretty good.

  5. Calligraphy and stamp Carving書法剪紙 We learned how to write traditional calligraphy and carve erasers to make name stamps to stamp our calligraphy works. It was a very enthusing experience, since I love doing calligraphy.

  6. Historic sites 歷史古蹟 We went to a lot of places, like the Taiwanese literature museum, Confucius temple, Chi kan, and the first all-boys high school. They were all very beautiful, representing the very intriguing history of Taiwan.

  7. Food 美食 I was very excited for the food in Taiwan, it is one of the main reasons for why I wanted to come here. I tried so many dishes and snacks here, and they were all super delicious!
