WiFiHermosaBeach: Urban Internet Access Initiative

WiFiHermosaBeach aims to provide ubiquitous internet access for all citizens as a public service. Launched in 2004 with a vision to deploy systems in 20 cities, each city demonstration system costs $15,000 and offers a square mile coverage. The project is a strategic partnership with Strix Systems Electronics, utilizing WiFi-PLUS smart antennas for seamless connectivity. The proof-of-design showcases a wireless mesh network with redundant paths for reliable internet access. With a monthly cost of $600 for a 6.0 Mbps connection, WiFiHermosaBeach seeks to become an integral part of the Greater South Bay WiFi network, revolutionizing urban internet accessibility.
